Providence (Sloop-of-War) muster roll, 1775-1776.

Muster roll of the "Providence," sloop of war, kept during the American Revolution while John Paul Jones was captain from 10 May to 20 Oct. 1776. Entries list sailors' names, ranks, dates of entry and discharge, and names of other ships served. Some sailors' dates of entry are as early as 20 Dec. 1775, preceding Jones' tenure as captain. Under his command, the "Providence" sailed from Rhode Island to New York, Philadelphia, the Bermudas, Isle Madame and Canso (Nova Scotia), and back to Rhode Island.
